Why Tiers sociétal ?

Having worked in the field of social work since the late 1990s, particularly on the streets and in various community settings, I have come to realise that the issues encountered go beyond social or charitable dimensions and their tendency to focus solely on poverty. These are, in fact, issues that very often concern society as a whole.

It is therefore crucial to examine the discourses or actions at work in the emergence of a particular social phenomenon, be it precariousness, domination, discrimination, violence, addiction or abuse.

With the aim of building a community, fostering more harmonious coexistence or curbing all forms of mistreatment, the role of the third party then takes on its full significance.

To move towards, to position oneself in the midst of a place or amongst (groups of) people who do not speak to one another or no longer do so, to establish subtle forms of social or societal contract, and to pursue the goals of openness, dialogue, impartiality and mediation.

The image of a blank page featured on this website reflects the idea that things are not predetermined but are co-created through ongoing and future interactions and collaborations.

This is the challenge that Tiers sociétal aims to tackle in relation to practice, training and research concerning street work, education, mediation, health promotion and ethics.
